On December 11th, 2016, the Princeton University Glee Club and So Percussion will celebrate the 50th anniversary of a momentous event in the musical history of Princeton - the residence of the great composer Igor Stravinsky. At the invitation of the University, the 84-year-old Stravinsky came to Princeton in 1966 to write a new work for chorus and orchestra for a world premiere performance in Princeton's McCarter Theater, to be conducted by Stravinsky himself - the Requiem Canticles. The Glee Club’s performance with Princeton University Ensemble-in-Residence So Percussion will include works which were performed in that concert half a century ago, alongside one of Stravinsky’s great choral masterworks - Les Noces (1923), for chorus, soloists, percussion ensemble, and four pianos.
Appearing alongside them will be soloists Jacquelyn Stucker (soprano), Adele Grabowski (mezzo-soprano), Jonas Budris (tenor), and Joseph Beutel (bass-baritone). The ensemble of four pianists consists entirely of current and former students at Princeton - Darya Koltunyuk (’15), Paul von Autenried and Min Joo Yi (both ’16) and Seho Young (’19).
