For Prospective Students

Welcome to the PUGC website, your hub for choral singing at Princeton. Whether you are an admitted student getting ready for your first year, a high schooler (or younger!) hoping to fill your college experience with both rigorous classes and rigorous singing, a Princeton parent or guardian researching extracurricular opportunities for your child, a current Princetonian eager to join the choral program, a local young singer hoping to join our youth choir Trenton Youth Singers, or anyone in between, you’ve come to the right place. Click the button below to schedule your audition, and read on to find out about all our choirs!

Within the music department, there are four faculty-led choral ensembles— the Glee Club, Chamber Choir, Trego Singers, and the Vocal Consort. The Glee Club is the oldest, largest, and busiest of the four— you can read all about it here and all over this website. Here, you’ll also be able to read more about the other three ensembles, which rehearse and perform at all different intensity levels. Members of all four groups receive a subsidy of at least 50% towards the cost of voice lessons.

Many students are happy and fulfilled singing in just one ensemble, but plenty choose to completely fill their schedules with singing on campus. To find out more about Chapel Choir, jazz, opera, musical theater, a cappella and other student-run ensembles, visit You’ll meet students whose singing ventures span 4 or 5 of those groups over the course of their time at Princeton! Where there’s a will, there’s a way.

To join any of our campus choirs, you’ll first need to sign up for an audition. Don’t stress—whether you’ve been singing in top choirs all your life or have always wanted to try, we have the right choir for you. 2019 auditions will be held from September 9th-13th, and you can schedule your audition now at this link. On 9.13, you’ll find out which choir you’ve been placed in. Learn all about the audition process here!

Trenton Youth Singers is a brand new youth choir run by Stephanie Tubiolo, Gabriel Crouch, and a team of Princeton undergraduates from across the university’s singing community who serve as Teaching Artists. The choir predominantly serves students in 5th-8th grade in Trenton Public Schools. Whether you are a middle school student hoping to join the choir or a Princetonian hoping to become a Teaching Artist, email to get started!
