Benjamin Britten’s War Requiem was written to commemorate the consecration of the Coventry Cathedral after the original fourteenth-century structure was destroyed in World War II. Since then, the work has remained an incredibly poignant and visceral musical response to the horrors of war, with poetry by Wilfred Owen (killed in action just before the end of World War I) interwoven between traditional texts used in Mass for the Dead.

The Princeton University Glee Club, Princeton University Orchestra, Princeton Pro Musica, and the Princeton High School Women’s Choir come together for a special two-night performance of this monumental work, marking a century since the end of World War I in 1918.
